This unit has been gone through and the chassis, inputs, pots, switches, heads, recording trough, rollers, capstans have cleaned belts rejuvenated with a silicone polymer solvent. It was purchased to dub and record not used for playback as it had all the features make an excellent recording/dubbing deck. This deck came out of retirement and upon testing everything worked even the belts looked fresh tight. In the mid eighties Sears subcontracted with various Japanese manufacturers and introduced a Proformance line of audio gear that represented vast improvement in quality performance over LXI house brand.

Sonya Plus was the best line ever made and this ordered from Sears for 150 bucks. Study the photos to evaluate cosmetic condition of equipment. One out of spec capacitor was replaced It is in excellent cosmetic condition.

I became a collector of JC Penney's MCS line stereo equipment as well the Realistic products from Radio Shack unfortunately Sears house brand LXI was ninety percent junk, BUT THIS IS NOT. It has Dolby noise reduction, can accept metal, chrome, or ferric oxide tape, a headphone jack, left and right recording level controls, LED indicators, two MIC jacks on the rear panel.
