The Cad-45C Cary Channel Hybrid Tube Solid-State Power Amplifier is a masterpiece of audio engineering, designed to deliver an unparalleled listening experience. This high-end amplifier is a fusion of classic tube technology and modern solid-state design, offering the best of both worlds.
The heart of the Cad-45C is its hybrid design, which combines the warmth and richness of tubes with the power and reliability of solid-state components. The amplifier features a pair of 6550 output tubes, known for their ability to deliver clean, powerful sound with a velvety smoothness. These tubes are housed in a sturdy, aluminum chassis, which not only provides excellent heat dissipation but also adds to the amplifier's aesthetic appeal.
The Cad-45C's solid-state section is responsible for the amplifier's impressive power output of 45 watts per channel into 8 ohms, and 80 watts per channel into 4 ohms. This power output ensures that the amplifier can drive a wide range of speakers with ease, delivering dynamic, detailed sound with a deep, powerful bass.
The amplifier's circuitry is meticulously designed to provide the best possible signal path. The input stage uses a pair of high-quality JFETs, which provide a low-impedance, high-current input that is ideal for driving a wide range of sources. The output stage uses a custom-designed, class-AB circuit topology, which provides excellent linearity and low distortion, ensuring that the amplifier delivers a truly faithful reproduction of the original audio signal.
The Cad-45C also features a range of high-end audio components, including audiophile-grade capacitors, resistors, and transistors. These components are carefully selected for their ability to deliver superior signal quality and minimize distortion, ensuring that the amplifier delivers the best possible sound.
The Cad-45C is also designed with ease of use in mind. It features a simple, intuitive front-panel control layout, with large, easily readable LED displays for input selection and power status. The amplifier also features a range of protective features, including automatic bias adjustment, current limiting, and over-temperature protection, ensuring that the amplifier is always operating safely and reliably.
In conclusion, the Cad-45C Cary Channel Hybrid Tube Solid-State Power Amplifier is a truly exceptional audio component. Its hybrid design combines the best of both tube and solid-state technology, delivering a sound that is both warm, rich, and powerful. Its high-quality components and meticulous design ensure that the amplifier delivers a truly faithful reproduction of the original audio signal, while its simple, intuitive control layout and protective features make it easy to use and maintain. All had high even gain, no grid emission, and shorts. Amplifier is in mint condition both cosmetics and function. The cabinet has no marks or scratches of any kind that I can see. Has no output hums or static in the level controls.
I also checked each tube with a b k tester. Enjoy high end quality without cost. All tubes tested perfectly.
Used but very well cared for Cary audio design CAD-45C hybrid 4 channel power amplifier with level control each. From what I have read this is one of a few custom made amplifiers. I recently removed the cover and replaced a burned out front panel bulb to illuminate level control knobs nice blue glow around each knob.
Specific specifications are hard to come by but the Cary audio quality is evident everywhere. I have also read that the Cary hybrid amplifiers are not recommended for use with low impedance 4 ohm speakers. It functions perfectly.
I have seen its original price stated at but am not sure of the exact number. It has a wonderful warm tube sound without the maintenance of output tubes. All quality Cary audio products are costly high end units. Thanks, charlie.
Utilizes 4 Philips 12ax7wa input driver tubes and transistor output stages.
