David Allen of Allen amps, who is an electrical engineer, has custom transformers made to original fender specs that he sells for about 40 less than mercury and mercury trans aren't wound to original specifications. This kit was purchased and built in early 1957 by my dad's best friend. I am inclined to believe that my dad's best friend's transformer selections for this were deliberate and well thought out.
It sounded very good warmer than the crown I usually use with those speakers. Both are in immaculate condition. The OT is a triad. So, if you think that peerless transformers are great, I can't stop you from thinking that.
He was a principal electrical engineer for squaring Milwaukee at the time.
David sells better tyrannies for less. The last one was a 1956 fender tweed deluxe. In the vintage guitar world, people pay premium prices for replacement transformers made by mercury magnetic. The tube compliment is v1 12au7 ecc82 v2 12au7 ecc82 v3 kt66v4 kt66v5 5r4gy the pt is a Chicago standard.
It sold for 4,000. I have rebuilt a lot of fender amps that use triad transformers. I cleaned it up a bit, put some tubes in it and hooked up a DVD player and a couple of voice of the theater speakers.
