The unit works on ac, or batteries. Cleaned the volume control and tone. It seems okay now. There are a few very minor scuffs here and, but only noticeable upon close inspection.
What it is, the tension of new belt holds from disengaging whole way. The compartment is just for excess wire. Any questions feel free to ask. The unit uses 5 cell batteries, not included.
The cassette plays well. It will improve with use. The speakers don't require batteries. May not have even been used.
I replaced the belt on cassette deck, removing all of tar like old. The tuner knob has a couple minor scratches and handle is little discolored. Very nice boom box in excellent working condition.
The speaker on main unit only works when extension speakers are disconnected. That's the worst. You can use the box without extra speakers. There was no corrosion at all in the battery compartment.
Lubricated the cassette deck. This is one of the only boom boxes i've come across lately worthy a restoration. I cleaned the unit inside and out. The unit, with speakers measures 19 inches long 11 high and deep.
