Pros of buying a Fisher PH250K 80s Boombox Stereo Radio (for parts):

1. Wide range of features: The Fisher PH250K is a multi-functional device that includes FM, SW (shortwave) radio, cassette player, and even a built-in microphone for karaoke. This makes it an excellent source for various parts.

2. High demand: Due to its popularity and timeless design, the Fisher PH250K is in high demand among collectors and enthusiasts. This means that even if you're only looking for specific parts, there's a good chance that you'll find someone willing to sell them to you.

3. Affordable: Compared to modern audio equipment, vintage boomboxes like the Fisher PH250K are generally more affordable. This makes them an accessible option for those looking to source parts without breaking the bank.

Cons of buying a Fisher PH250K 80s Boombox Stereo Radio (for parts):

1. Availability of specific parts: While the Fisher PH250K is a popular model, not all parts may be readily available. You may need to search extensively or consider custom fabrication for certain components.

2. Age and condition of parts: As with any vintage equipment, the age and condition of the parts may vary. Some components may be worn out or damaged, which could require additional time and expense to repair or replace.

3. Compatibility issues: If you're planning to use the parts in a modern device, there may be compatibility issues to consider. Make sure to research and plan accordingly.

Conclusion:

The Fisher PH250K 80s Boombox Stereo Radio can be an excellent source of parts, especially for those looking for vintage components or collectors interested in classic audio equipment. The wide range of features, high demand, and affordability make it an appealing option. However, potential buyers should be aware of the potential challenges such as availability, condition, and compatibility issues.

Recommendation:

If you're looking to purchase the Fisher PH250K 80s Boombox Stereo Radio for parts, I would recommend thoroughly researching the specific components you need and checking multiple sources, both online and offline. Consider the condition of the parts and be prepared to potentially spend time and money on repair or custom fabrication. Ultimately, the decision to purchase should be based on your individual needs and expectations.

Details:

This boombox is totally usable as a radio-only. It also comes with the original box no foam or anything in box, just. I assume it has to pass through the non-functional tape deck, so that doesn't work as well. The FM and Shortwave functions work.

Speakers sound great. The body of the boombox has some dirt and blemishes consistent with use over last few decades. I couldn't figure out how to use it. It does have a line-in, but there is no way to select it.

Cool blink VU meters work. The tape deck DOES NOT work, and was deemed non-repairable. This boombox makes a great radio. All knobs operate smoothly with no noise.

Sold as-is, for parts or repair.
