This8800 works with your speakers and creates a very balanced environment, sure it isn't some famous brand like McIntosh, marinates or pioneer, but does that matter I have this guy hooked up to my pair of bl l 56's and I always impress most of my friends who come over to have a drink. Here is another beautiful piece in my inventory. Since the Sherwood brand doesn't carry much weight in their name. The highs are just right, with low distortion, while lows are very tight and powerful.
I also took pictures in the dark to show the cosmetic face plate with the internal lighting on. Performance Sherwood was never a famous brand name.
Channels are clear and drives smooth power into the speakers. I've own this receiver for about 3 years now and have long since forgotten whom I purchased this guy from. The glass is still very nice, and the light comes through clean.
Fm picks up accurate stations, although I suggest buying an antenna for good measure. Everyone is free to think what they want, that's my opinion, but there's more to this receiver than meets the eye. I have a huge collection of receivers so I can't clean every thing, i'd go crazy.
They're considered more of the sleeper receiver types. Table stand is not included, you only get the receiver and it's cabinet. That's about it for the cosmetic part.
Rated at PC's this baby produces an extremely clean and warm sound. A lot of people just give this brand one look, and then turn away because they either haven't heard of Sherwood, or they've only heard bad things about their later products and gave their earlier ones a bad rep. Let's move onto the condition to start, there's a large gash at the bottom of the cabinet, which has created some fringing on the particle board. All the pots are clean and react without any static or pops.
The top is clean, and still glossy because i'm such an awesome owner aha anyway, jokes aside, there's a few scratches on the face plate but not anything crazy. I guess i'd call this one of my lower end receivers. There isn't much damage since it's only at the bottom.
It isn't fatiguing when you're listening to rock since most receivers would produce too much treble and blare. Please message me if you'd like to set up a time to drop by.
