( Brand: Threshold ), ( Model: SA-1 ), ( Type: Power Amplifier ), ( Bundle Listing: No ), ( Country/region Of Manufacture: United States )
The larger gold plated ones maximize power transfer to your speaker cables, while minimizing signal loss due contact resistance and oxidation. Current capability: 40a continuous, 60a peak. 5 is pretty close. Each weighs just under 80 lbs.
Legendary nelson pass Threshold sa 1 - one of the best sounding amps ever made. Serial numbers are consecutively numbered and each was manufactured in the workmanship impressive construction is evident by oversized heat sinks, thick aluminum front face plate bezel machined handles. If you're a fan of the Threshold stasis legendary nelson pass, then you probably know all about them. These monoblock amplifiers are spectacular.
Also, that same has a slight scrape on the front bezel i've tried to capture in one of photos. Needless to say both these mono block amplifiers perform flawlessly with no pop, hum, or hiss. They truly do sound phenomenal.
I've listened to them connected a tube preamps, pass labs x2. voltage gain: 26.
Because of this, I rate that one at 6 out 10 cosmetically, the other is conservatively rated 8 10, just due to slight imperfections from age but nothing major. I think the tube and fet10 e preamps make best sounding combo, although pass labs x2.
These amps are not that common, and needless to say, haven't been produced since dimensions: 19 w by 8. There are two flaws to mention - on one of the amps power meter works intermittently, some times it works, other sticks. These amps are very liquid sounding and tube like, when I listen to them just marvel at how great they really sound.
Frequency response: 7hz 100khz, 3db. Each operates in pure class a mode, so the transistors are continuously forward biased even at idle hence massive aluminum heat sinks to dissipate unused speaker power as energy.
Input impedance 75k ohms. 5 preamps and a Threshold fet10 e.
