I did test this with several tapes as well to make sure everything is still working fine after all these years, and it works great. The deck has been tested and it works just as should, all buttons work, belt proper tension so tape speed is correct doesn't slip, direction tapes play both directions, display illumination well. The date stamp is 5d, which would make this from fourth quarter has not been cleaned or refurbished to it look good, how came out of box, you can see in picture that still even foam protective wrap factory and, though pictured, original grey twist tie there holding power cord.

I will point out that the manual is missing but this very easy to use and take little no time learn how it. I did unroll it to test it, but put back with the tie right after.
