This is not from any battery acid being distributed old batteries in the compartment but fact that it probably sat for last 40 years a damp basement and developed some moisture build up on contacts.

All the buttons and knobs on this unit work as they should. This radio and cassette recorder is being sold as part of an estate liquidation for a friend mine. The playback unit is running at about half to one third of its usual speed. He always tried to keep all of his electronics in pristine condition.

It is in excellent condition for its age and quite a rare model. What you do see though, as indicated in the last picture is a thin layer of corrosion on battery contacts and springs. You just do not see a lot of them around in this condition. The tape recorder works in every way but and playback heads need to be cleaned.

There are only two issues with this unit which to the average collector of these old radio recorders is really not a serious issue deal at all. A very easy fix for someone who knows what they are doing when removing and cleaning these battery contacts. Model number V-162.
