I did use an external source to check the VU meters and both work fine. Further, the motors appear to work as both forward and rewind controls. The bottom line is this. If you do not see it in the photos, is likely included sale.

The digital counter also works. Beyond that, no testing has been done and its being sold as-is for parts or repair. The front panel looks OK, but would benefit from a detailed cleaning. This Mitsubishi cassette deck is in fair condition for its age with some scuffs and scratches.
